The Ghost Brigades (Old Man's War, #2)The Ghost Brigades by John Scalzi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Doesn't posses the impact of the first novel 'The old mans war.' This doesn't stop it being an excellent read.

This time around, the focus of the book is more about the politics of coexisting with aliens, and the concept of slavery, which is still a huge problem in the 2014, never mind the future.

Would you every imagine, this would be true in the futuristic, 2000's?

Human clones, genetically ramped up to be super soldiers, unquestionable fight, every other sentinel, technology advance species in space, for real estate.

Its sad, but all the wonderment of first contact, has been banished for the stark reality of a fight to expand. All advancements are military, and peace, and coexistence with other species is look upon as problem.

Not a great look at the future, but there is a part of me, looking at the strife taking place at the present time in the world, that see's this version of the future as an uncomfortable reality of our inability to get along with anyone!

There is more to the book than just these premiss I have outlined, but for me the points I have highlighted, shaped the texture of the text, leaving me just a little bit sad! :-(

WatchmenWatchmen by Alan Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Who watches the Watchman. Come on take a minute to think about that! You are all powerful with the governments blessing fighting the good fight. Who do you answer to. Forget the hype, Watchman through its very title asks the right question. Who watches the Watchmen??????????

Its a graphic novel, just as good as any novel. If your thought the medium is for nerds and the such like then think again. One of the best things to happen in the world of graphics and the written word since the two came together!!!

Batman: The Dark Knight ReturnsBatman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The man bat is old he is thicker around the middle slower and less agile. Passed his prime so he is retired. He has also fallen out with Superman for being a government kiss ass, but he decides to return, shaking the dust off the cowl to give it one last go, one last time for the sake of Justice. He totally rocks showing how a super hero in the twilight of his years should never be underestimated and written off.

Oh yeah I nearly forgot to add, the Batmobile looks like the dogs b@ll@cks in this one!!!!!

Crux (Nexus, #2)Crux by Ramez Naam
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm on page 205 of 512 of Crux: I'm enjoying the book with reservations that i hope will disappear. At the moment I have to say not finding it as gripping as the first. Story is strong and I'm definitely heading some where with it, but where it is going is where my confusion lies. Things have definitely moved on from the first book but not enough at the moment for it to be different enough for me. Still its a great read, the combat and the tech are great, exciting enough to keep me reading. Waiting for it to change and become is own book and just not the second in the series.

This kind of writing should not be limited to people that enjoy science fiction. Hamilton is a craftsman in the literary field, his writing should be noted by those wishing to put pen to paper, that includes my good self..

Pandora's Star (Commonwealth Saga, #1)Pandora's Star by Peter F. Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved the deep attention to detail. One of the first writers I really appreciated for their ability at world building. That particular saying is over used now, Hamilton knows how to create not just characters but technology that seems real enough to be plausible in the future!

This what I call a silent book never raises your heart beat, steady as you go. I did enjoy it though. Ender was a strange child, but that was the point wasn't it!

All You Need Is KillAll You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, but I can understand why some people didn't. There was an overriding sense of a bleak future for the main characters, concerning them being trapped in a time loop, that didn't allow you to have a sense of victory concerning the the battles that were won in the book.

What I am trying to convey, is usually in a military based book, you end up cheering or routing for the characters as they over come insurmountable odds, the victories in the book didn't allow for this.

The book with out giving anything away, didn't end on a completely positive note for me. This is not usually necessary, but I felt that the tone of the book could have done with a uplift of emotion at the end to balance the rest of it out.

This does not stop me giving it a solid five out of five.

I have to give this book respect. This was the first time I experience cyber space in science fiction. It is a classic easily sitting in the top one hundred science fiction books of all time. Is it brilliant, well that you have to decide by reading it, all I will commit myself to saying is that this book is one of the first of its kind, so from that point of view it is probably worth your time.

What the heck, do I really want to continue with this.

My superheros were true and just. Apple pie and the flag waving behind them.

Only since the Dark Knight, gave the Man super, a beating that he will never forget, have I seen such a switch in the bedrock of the superhero norm.

They definitely didn't, to my knowledge have genitalia or have sex.

Lets see where this is going!

I am looking to turn my hobby into something of merit, into something of less of a hobby, and more of a vocation!!

Architect is so soon to be delivered.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Architect-Book-1-Steven-Stennett-ebook/dp/B004JHYMJK

I really do mean it!

It has been a very long journey.

A journey that I arogantly believed would be simple and fruitful.

I have been humbled, and rightly so through the process!

I am a self publisher and Architect is going to set my bar.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Architect-Book-1-Steven-Stennett-ebook/dp/B004JHYMJK

I have a story to tell, and I believe it is a story that will entertain and be worth its determinative price.

If you become a reader, you will judge the document, and then tell me if this has been a true investment of your time and money.

The end is close, I will be relieved to be able to say I did my best, and produced the document that I should have manifested from the very beginning.

All hail to the mighty, 'Architect'      http://www.amazon.co.uk/Architect-Book-1-Steven-Stennett-ebook/dp/B004JHYMJK
